home > tka tallent - noise nuisance
July 2006 - SCDC and TKA have arrived at an agreement.
SCDC has entered into an agreement with TKA Tallent that according to SCDC means that TKA will not make a statutory noise nuisance during the night from May 2007. This is 10 months away. Night seems to be defined as between 11pm at 7am. Consequently SCDC have removed the Noise Abatement Notice. No limitations or agreements on noise outside these hours have been made (This includes weekend and Bank Holidays)

Historic information about the trial can be found here.

TKA Tallent Chassis Ltd.- Noise Nuisance

A considerable number of people have complained over a number of years about the noise coming from the works of TKA Tallent Chassis Ltd located at Bourn Airport.

Whilst the company has done some work to mitigate their influence on our well being it is becoming apparent that it is not enough.

Consequently, a small number of local residents are forming a group to spearhead a campaign to limit the impact of this intrusion on our rural community. If you would like to be kept informed of its progress or would like to have some input into it's running then please, in the first instance, contact Chris Corcoran via email.

The following reply was received from Brian Heffernan Environmental Health on 29th September. I am currently investigating the source or cause of the odour with the assistance of health and safety personnel from TKA. Yesterday I visited West Drive Caldecote with Les Setchells Health and Safety advisor from TKA to try to ascertain the source of the odour. This is an on-going exercise that involves random pro active monitoring as well as responding directly to complaints in respect of odour. During the course of monitoring for odour at West Drive yesterday, I was aware of noise from TKA. I understand that TKA have systems in place whereby jobs that have a noisier classification are carried out during day time hours so as to try to limit the degree of disturbance at night. This practice is in accordance with the spirit of an agreement that both the council and TKA entered into in 2006.

September 2009 · 526.3 TKA report There had been several detailed reports this month of Chemical smells and noise. There had also been some correspondence regarding an offer from TKA to help fund the artificial cricket wicket, but nothing further had been heard from Steven McCrystal in response to the chairman’s letter of reply. There is no suggestion that any contribution would be other than on equal and fair terms, and not give any special access or privileges. The Chairman welcomed any improvement in the relationship between TKA and the village
